Phentermine
What is phentermine?
Phentermine is a stimulant that works in a way similar to an amphetamine. It is an appetite suppressant that works on the nervous system. Together with diet and exercise, Phentermine is used to treat obesity, generally in patients with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes.
Important information:
Do not take phentermine with other diet medications such as fenfluramine (a combination commonly known as Phen-Fen). This can cause pulmonary hypertension, a rare fatal lung disorder.
Take care when driving or performing anything that requires you to be alert, until you know how phentermine affects you. It could cause drowsiness, an effect that will be increased if you drink alcohol while taking this medication.
Phentermine is highly addictive.
Do not take Phentermine if you have:
* Heart disease or high blood pressure
* Hardening of the arteries
* Hyperthyroidism
* Glaucoma
* A history of drug or alcohol abuse
Tell your doctor if you have:
* Thyroid problems
* An anxiety disorder
* A seizure disorder, such as epilepsy
* Diabetes.
I’m pregnant (or breastfeeding). Can I take phentermine?
It is not known whether this medication will harm an unborn baby. If you are pregnant, speak to your doctor before taking phentermine. Further, it is not known whether phentermine passes into breast milk. If you are nursing, speak to your doctor before taking this medication.
Dosing Information
Take phentermine exactly s prescribed. Take it with a full glass of water. For best result, it is recommended that you take phentermine on an empty stomach before breakfast. Further, it is recommended that you take phentermine at least 10 to 14 hours before bedtime.
Do not crush, break, chew, or break open an extended-release capsule; swallow the pill whole. Doing so would release too much of the medication into your system at one time.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the medicine at the next dosing interval.
In the event of an overdose, seek emergency medical attention. An overdose of this drug can be fatal.
Signs of overdose include:
* Confusion
* Hallucinations
* Restlessness
* Nausea or vomiting
* Stomach pain
* Irregular heartbeat
* Tremors
* Rapid breathing
* Light-headedness
* Fainting
* Convulsions
